Guardians of the flame

31 years ago our local law enforcement officers went above and beyond the call of duty to bring people with intellectual disabilities out of the shadows in their community.  By lighting the way with the Flame of Hope, these volunteers have paved the way for respect and inclusion for our athletes. The officers of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will take their years and miles of experience to the streets of Waikiki on June 3, 2016, uniting their communities together as they keep the Flame of Hope burning for all the athletes involved in Special Olympics Hawaii.  The Law Enforcement Torch Run in Hawai’i has raised approximately $6,837,502.86  for local Special Olympics athletes since it’s inception in 1986.

How can I get involved?

At Summer Games during opening ceremony. The runners and walkers will light the way into the stadium. Stand by and cheer them on as they run from Waikiki to the Les Murakami Stadium carrying the flame.
